"Tasted at the Fine Wine Experience "Dream Fourteen" tasting with Peter Gago. Compared to the '55, the '62 Grange has far more vivacity and complexity. It is adorned with a clear roof tile core with a thin tawny rim and is blessed with one show-stopper of a nose that is beautifully defined and sensuous: dates, mint, wild heather and a touch of summer fruits " brilliant! The palate is medium-bodied with perfect balance, still fresh and very refined with a sense of nonchalance and an effortless demeanour. Yet at the same time, I feel that it is reluctant to give everything away even in its autumnal years. A second bottle shows a slightly fleshier, velutinous texture with a touch of bitter cherry fruit towards the finish."

"Perfumed, lifted, sweet, comely, a country wine par excellence. This is where the word genius comes in. It's rustic, bloody hell it is, but it's not in any way dried out, it's long and satisfying, it trills like a canary and every time you look at it, you notice something different. Tomato leaf ? Twigs? Beef ? Cocoa? Not just the herbs and spices, but the way it's cooked. Adorable. Spunk-tastic. Holly Golighty, in the book's incarnation, in a bottle."
