'This richly fruited, smooth and sumptuous shiraz has a deeply layered aroma of fresh blackberries, raspberries and blueberries, without so much as a hint of overcooked fruit. It's backed by fragrant new oak, with slightly meaty ' almost gamey ' and floral undertones. Framed by moderately firm, fine-grained and pliant tannins, its plush, sweet-oaked palate of juicy and almost confectionary dark berry/plum fruit finishes with a suggestion of briar and a hint of gamey development. Already very approachable, but destined to improve for some time. Drink 2012-2016+.'

'Penfolds' Shiraz lineup is impressive. Leading off is the 2004 Shiraz 'Kalimna Bin 28'. Purple colored, it has an attractive nose of smoke, grilled meat, and blueberry. Medium to full-bodied, it is a straightforward Shiraz with loads of flavor, good balance, and a moderately long finish. It is a very good value. Penfolds, arguably Australia's most famous winery, continues to perform at a high level under the leadership of Head Winemaker, Peter Gago.'
