Tyson Stelzer 95 points!"2010 was a sensational season for Marananga, capturing the sweet, lush, ripe core of blueberry and blackberry fruits, liquorice straps and dark chocolate that characterise the village. It holds everything securely in place with lively acidity and firm tannins of finely-structured tension. Definitive Barossa shiraz in a magnificent vintage."
Wine Taste Weekly, Feb 2013
"Very youthful deep, dark purple-red colour leads into a concentrated young shiraz of prune juice and mocha aromas, with hints of blood plum and black olive."
Huon Hooke, Gourmet Traveller Wine August/September 2013.
"I like that Penfolds are persisting with the investigation of Barossa Valley sub-regionality with this wine.
Spicy, garrigue and spiceiness, heaps of shaved wood; it smells fantastic. It's a touch spicy in the palate too, finishing with flint and graphite quasi-bitterness. Length is good, there's ripeness packing in behind it. Texture is smooth and long, but the sweetness pushes a bit, then the twiggy oak. Good drink though, likely will look better with time when the mesh is more fluid. Cellar."
