[SOLD-OUT] Penfolds Bin 138 2010

"From older, lower-yielding vines in the Barossa and a kiss of older American oak. The wine was formally known as Barossa Valley Old Vines. The cepage changes each year, but according to Wine Master Peter Gago, it is intentionally made to 'style'. This 2010 vintage sees 50% grenache, 27% shiraz and 23% mourvedre.

Ripe fruit perfume with sweet spice, licorice, chocolatey hints and dried fruit pudding. It's heady and bold. The palate shows a juicier, paler fruit spectrum teetering on the edge of 'joven' with slurpy texture and a subtle line of orangey acidity. Great drinking, slippery and frisky but with enough density and chew that you know there is older vine stuff going into the mix. Floral and spice in the fall out. Drinking well now, sensual, without too much stuffing, which seems the intent. "
