"Penfolds is renowned for its consistency of flavour/style and what's clear from these 2011 releases is that this consistency extends beyond variety and label and into vintage. This and the Bin 138 from 2011 sit outside the mainstay of 2011 releases from other producers.
"Ripe, cherried and peppery.. Fruit driven and fruit-forward, though spicy, autumnal tannin here gives the wine a sturdiness. Smoky vanillin oak plays a role here, but not a particularly assertive one. I'd call it well balanced.. I wouldn't question the quality of this.
