'Penfolds 2001 Bin 128 Shiraz - This is a medium-sized drink-now Shiraz that's easy to like and hard to put down. Red and black plum fruit is dressed up with oak, toffee, and a hint of Grand Marnier. Finishes with smooth, chalky tannins.'

'...represents great value. It's still a young wine with spicy, rich, juicy berry notes and a persistent finish, so give it time to mature if you can or a decent decant if you can't.'
Jane Faulkner, Age - Australia, 5 June 2004
'The best of this set of Penfolds releases, for the first time in my memory. Its earthy, leathery, rather old-fashioned aroma of animal hide and small berries is spicy and charming. While there's some plumpness and generosity, the palate is very smooth, spicy and restrained, framed by fine tannins and pierced throughout by flavours of white pepper, red cherries, cassis and plums. 18.0, drink 2009-2013+'
