"Penfolds 2000 Bin 128 Shiraz, Coonawarra. Understated, subtle - not words that you usually use in talking about Oz Shiraz, but it's appropriate here. Black plum fruit provides a base for nice floury-chalky tannins, which fade away by the wine's end to let the fruit shine through. There's just black pepper and earth on the nose, for now. Maybe a few more months in the bottle will yield more facets, but it's quite good as it is."
