Below average rainfall during the growing season did not affect the quantity or quality of fruit. A dry, mild summer produced a disease-free vintage, comparable to 1990 in terms of quality.
Bright crimson red. Coonawarra varietal notes with green tobacco and a whiff of spice, white pepper and menthol. Beguiling lift of Chinese pork, freshly shelled walnut and pistachio. Lively, rich, ripe Coonawarra shiraz with damson plum, beetroot and blackberry flavours. Generous, sweet mid-palate with rounded, softened oak tannins. A lovely, ripe Bin 128, a confident follow-up to the floral, peppery 1997. Peak Drinking: 2002 " 2012. Alc/Vol: 13.5%. Notes sourced from Penfolds.
