Tyson Stelzer 97 Points!"Penfolds Reserve Bin 08A Chardonnay is so far ahead of the pack that when it cleaned up every other Chardonnay to win three trophies " and then every other variety to win the best wine of show " at the National Wine Show last year I knew precisely what it was long before it was announced. This wine nails that precarious balance between desperate purity, nervy acidity and pristine minerality on one side, and on the other, gorgeous complexity of roast nuts, white peach and grapefruit blossom.

Campbell Mattinson 96 Points!"Penfolds Bin 08A Chardonnay is made in a wild, (almost) confronting style, but it's a superstar wine. It makes a profound statement for the value of the Adelaide Hills as a wine-growing region.
Mountains of lees, grapefruit, melons and toast. In your face with its 'out there' personality - it's funky to the max. It has gorgeous finesse though, despite its smelly personality. And most importantly, it has length to burn. It saw 65 percent new French oak, though the flavour this oak no doubted imparted has welded effortlessly to the extreme purity of the fruit. Benchmark Australian chardonnay in my books " which is to say, it's one of the best chardonnays ever made in this country."

eRobertParker.com 92 Points!"The 2008 Reserve Bin 08A Chardonnay (Bin A with the vintage preceding the letter 'A') received 100% malo-lactic and 9 months in French barriques, 65% new. It offers pronounced meal and sulphide notes with lemon curd, kumquat and supporting notes of toast, nuts, chalk dust plus a whiff of funk. Crisp, concentrated and medium-bodied, the palate is taut with a long creamy finish. Drink it now to 2015+."
