Doesn't have the penetrating quality of the 311 ' this is a wine that sits in the mouth and lulls around. It's gorgeous too. Love the funk on the nose and the way you get more from it from every sip. Penfolds are thoroughly on song with their chardonnays.'

Its pungent and smoky bouquet of melon, quince and cumquat reveal nuances of lemon sherbet, toasty oak and smoked ham. It's forward, rich and unctuous, with a pleasing fatness and weight that eases back into a fine, tight and austere finish of lingering citrus and tropical flavours. But for a hint of candied fruit it would rate even higher.'
