"Light to medium yellow colour, with a rich and multi-layered bouquet showing glimpses of preserved and dried fruits, nutty and nougat touches and very subtle buttery and mealy notes. Superior concentration of flavour immediately makes its presence felt, the mouth-feel rich and ample, rounded and powerful, continuing long into a very extended aftertaste. Power allied with finesse. "Patrick Sullivan has partnered winemaking and vineyard management with Bill Downie in Gippsland for years. He decided to start making his own labels as he wanted to concentrate on Chardonnay while Downie wanted to make pinot noir. The pair are still great friends and source their fruit from the same vineyards.

Patrick chases richness in his Chardonnay. He says he is tired of the ‘Chablis style’ many Australian producers have moved to. We were impressed by the wines' mouth filling body, with concentration of flavours and a healthy acid line that keeps them balanced.

The vineyards are all older and dry grown providing quality fruit which is put through 100% malolactic fermentation and the expert use of oak makes for very delicious drinking. Of the three, Ada River is the coolest vineyard, so expect a white fruited and floral edge to the profile." - Wine House

 

"The Ada River vineyard was planted in 1982 at Neerim South in the foothills of Mount Baw Baw. The vineyard sits at an elevation of 300m and has the fortune of 360-degree windbreaks, which limit the at-times harsh winds pushing from the snow fields. The total plantings to Chardonnay being just on a hectare, the vineyard is 100% dry grown, which is evident through the intense fruit concentration.

Nose is powerful with lifted citrus, melon and brioche. The palate has peach and citrus with deep length and minerality." - Patrick Sullivan
