" ... outstanding depth of flavour and structure" - Oakridge
Description
Full-ish golden straw. This is about complexity not simple fruit – petrichor, mineral and flint, pea shoots, witlof and bitter greens, stone fruit. Hints of struck match. Not your regulation savvy blanc. The palate has depth, weight and texture – a chalky crunch, a rapier like line of citrus acidity that control some riper lychee and passionfruit flavours. Generosity and interest.
Winemaking Notes
A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – handpicking and whole bunch pressing directly to 500 litre French oak puncheons for a natural fermentation and a 10 month maturation on lees.
Growing Conditions
This wine was sourced from the noth-facing Willowlake Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Gladysdale. A warm spring and mild summer has resulted in excellent crops and ideal harvesting conditions. The wines have outstanding depth of flavor and structure.
