It's a real beauty. Manages to cram great complexity into a fluid, textured " indeed, easy-to-like " drinking white. It's full of funk and chalk and lactose, but lemon, oatmeal and ripe, fleshy nectarine play starring roles too. Long, spicy, matchsticky finish. Toasty oak dolls things up a fraction. Nothing underdone about this. A beautiful, long, complex white wine."

From a mature upper Yarra Valley vineyard on volcanic soils, this has flinty grapefruit citrus, lemon curd, white peach and nectarine, hazelnut oak and faint spice - deep-set complexity here. The palate's scintillating: it's taut and composed, with tightly coiled, powerful fruit in the citrus and nectarine spectrum, and some peach too - crisp and utterly convincing... Chalk up another victory for winemaker David Bicknell, Oakridge and the emerging greatness of Australian chardonnay."
