"The purple-colored 2007 Eclipse is a blend of 65% Grenache and 35% Shiraz sourced from old vines with tiny yields. It spent 18 months in small and large French and American oak, just 11% new. It delivers an already complex nose of damp earth, mineral, lavender, Asian spices, black cherry, and black raspberry. Full-bodied, rich, and savory, this plush effort conceals enough structure to evolve for 4-6 years. It will offer a drinking window extending from 2014 to 2027. In a challenging vintage Drew Noon made superb wines, if not quite as sublime as when the weather is more cooperative."

"Drew Noon has been familiar with biodynamics for years but has started applying its principles to his home vineyard in McLaren Vale only in recent years. His Eclipse Grenache Shiraz is from his home vineyard. There is always something classic about Noon Eclipse despite its high alcohol. This release is strong and spicy and ripped with cranberried, plummy fruit flavour, its smoothness and impact second to none. Licoricey, tarry, porty overtones and lots of sweet, warm length. Complex."
