Nocturne is the side label of highly lauded Margaret River winemaker Julian Langworthy and his wife Alana. Julian has won just about trophy or award there is to win in Australian wine, including James Halliday's Winemaker of the Year in 2019, and also the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy at Royal Melbourne in 2016.
High quality fruit, from connections with growers made over many years of winemaking in the Margaret River, handled masterfully produces a little gem. This hails mostly from Yallingup, which produces some of the region's best Cabernet, and has 13% Merlot blended in, to make a fresh and generous Cabernet.
"Cassis and blueberry, baking spices, bay leaf and dark mint chocolate, old cupboards dusted with star anise, someone runs past with Dencorub on their buttocks, leaving just a whiff as they go. Medium-bodied, distinctly cool and ‘mineral’ feel to it, but warmed by spice and blue fruits, raspberry coulis, tannin has an emery board feel, lively, bright and long to close. All the spice, precision and charm of a cool vintage, and a lovely thing it is. Drinks beautifully." - Gary Walsh, Wine Front
