Nikka Session Blended Malt Whisky 43%

THE FIRST NEW WHISKY FOR NIKKA IN 6 YEARS!

"Coming in an arresting blue glass bottle and a musical themed box, Nikka's Session is an exciting addition to the lineup of one of Japan's finest brands. This is Nikka's first world blended whisky, created from whisky produced at the Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries, mingled with Scotch from Scotland’s highly regarded Ben Nevis distillery. These are three of the finest names in Whisky, handled with aplomb by the masterful blenders at Nikka.

As the first world blended whisky for Nikka, a blend of Japanese and Scottish whisky holds a beautiful synergy in echoing the love affair between Nikka's founder Taketsuru and his Scottish wife, Rita Cowan, which kick started the story 100 years ago. The result is a whisky with fruit-driven flavour backed by woody and slightly smoky notes." - Wine House

"The first new brand from Nikka in six years is a world whisky blend of malts from Yoichi, Miyagikyo, and Ben Nevis. Nikka Whisky bought Scotland's Ben Nevis Distillery in 1989, though they had been importing whisky from its parent company, James Burrough, for "some years" prior to that. These days it's pretty open secret that Ben Nevis is a component of many Nikka whiskies.

Apples, pineapples, pears and blackcurrant, leafy mint on the nose. For the palate, those fruits have dried up! We also get peppercorn and a healthy serving of woody malt, of course. That malt wave brings plenty of dark chocolate malt and bitterness with it. Slightly peaty to finish things off." - McCoy Spirits
