"From Summit and Rufus vineyards in Mount Barker and Illuma in Nairne, the fruit is all from sites owned by Ngeringa " of course under the biodynamic viticulture regime as is Ngeringa's wont. The J.E. range is also purported to be 'more approachable' than the standard Ngeringa range.
Plummy, juicy fruit, crisp acidity and a crunch of chalky phenolics. You could sum the wine up in a sentence like that " but it evolves over a day or so and shows more in the glass over an hour too. At first shy, a touch more briary and leafy, then brightness of fruit, plum-skinsy sour/sweetness and gently candied fruit, comes to the fore. It's easy to drink, no doubt, but doesn't tilt into the simple spectrum or ripe fruit overload, retaining its cooler, medium bodied feel the whole way. Good drinking."
