More abundant sweet fruit on the nose, as well as cassis, violets, red plums and cherries. Some graphite-like, stony notes, too. The palate is supple and fleshy with a shell-like layer of crisp tannins around the edges. The cabernet is driving this along. Try from 2022. - James Suckling
The 2013 Quintet is so aromatic! It has bright cassis-y fruit on the nose along with raspberry seed and blueberry (the first time I've seen this character). There's a grape-y, bubblegum inflection on the nose, and it weaves into the fruit in the mouth. This is super fresh, supple and exciting, actually. There is lovely clarity of fruit in the mouth. The tannins are chalky through the finish. This is a gorgeous wine. 12.9% alcohol, sealed under natural cork. Drink 2023 - 2053. - Erin Larkin, Robert Parker
Yarra Valley cabernet blend. Masterfully done.
Mount Mary Quintet doesn’t muck around here. It’s a classic style, take it or leave it. It’s architectural, sparse, built on the finest of bones, enduring. It shows notes of pencils and berries, tobacco and leafy herbs, but it’s the acid and the tannin, the slow inevitability of it. Come back in ten years. Drink 2015 - 2035. - Campbell Mattinson
