"This is elegance personified. A silky combination of coiled power and finesse, this is a glorious Cabernet. Blackberries, spices, tobacco leaves, kid leather, violets, cigar box notes, aniseed and delicately integrated oak. There is a gossamer-like web of complexity weaving through the wine. Seamless, great length and cashmere tannins. This is a brilliant wine. Ten years, twenty years? How long have you got? If you are serious about great Australian Cabernet, this is a must for your cellar.
There are some world class Cabs made in the region and the MW sits with the very best. This vintage ranks with the finest of recent releases and there have been some crackers. To be honest, to look at this, I slipped it into a tasting which friends had organised, which was of some “super-second level” Bordeaux and great Margaret River Cabernets, from vintages as far back as 1990, right up to today. It will give an indication of how well it went if I tell you that one friend, not usually known for purchasing anything other than the great wines of Europe, rang the next day to say he had already picked up a six pack." - Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot
"A distinctive and enticing bouquet of dark red berries and vanilla, baked plum and clove, gun flint and violet, dark rose and fresh tobacco. Complex and youthful, vibrant and fruity. Lovely weight and mouthfeel with a core of dark red fruit flavours then almost immediately a tautness from tannins, acidity and oak. The package of fruit with toasty wood spices, tobacco and dry stone mineral qualities deliver a wine that young and vibrant, intense and tasty. A wine that also needs some cellar time to bring together all the attributes and energy. A lengthy finish with best drinking from 2025 through 2035+. " - Cameron Douglas, MS
"This needs a swirl or two, it's a little shy from the outset. Then suddenly a whirl of roses, black plums and subtle sweet baking spices emerge. The fruit is poised and wonderfully fresh and there's a graceful air to the palate. It flows across the palate with some pleasing amaro tannins guiding the way. This is an elegant cabernet with a fine yet youthful structure. Its full-bodied warming core has years ahead of it." - Bob Campbell MW
"Moss Wood's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon looks to reflect this cool, less-powerful vintage beautifully. Mulberry notes and hints of green herbs accent raspberry fruit on the nose, while the palate is medium to full-bodied but silky and elegant, with ample length on the finish." - Wine Advocate
