[SOLD-OUT] Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 (Minor Damaged Label)

“Well they say the exception proves the rule and this is the best Cabernet I’ve tasted from the 2006 Margaret River vintage. There’s a bit of window dressing via some highly attractive chocolate and lead pencil oak but there’s a core of sweet red fruit too that has a classic and graceful sort of charm. A light gamey earthiness with a flicker of menthol and gum leaf add interest - but pose no significant problems with regards to ripeness. It’s just medium bodied, fluid and fresh with light fine grained tannins and no shortage of length. A pretty wine of delicacy and poise.”

Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, 2009

“An elegant, fine, supple and slightly herbaceous cabernet blend of pleasing prettiness and charm. Its dusty, leafy bouquet of violets, mulberries and cassis, sweet cedar/vanilla oak reveals forest floor-like undertones, hints of tobacco and dried herbs. Elegant, supple and restrained.”

"On first impression this is cooler, finer and more leafy and herbal than the epic 2005, which makes its roast nut oak more prominent. But all it needs is time for its blackcurrant fruit to emerge. This will be a slow ageing Moss Wood which remains finely structured and approachable throughout its long life."

Tyson Stelzer, WBM Top 100, July 2009

"One of Margaret River's benchmark Cabernets. It's a restrained, austere wine in it's youth. The 2006 couples focused cabernet traits to cedary oak in a tight, savoury interplay; with age it will build complex subtleties and lovely, sustained impact. (14% alc). 5 Stars"

Ralph Kyte Powell The Age Epicure July 2009

"This is a lighter, finer cabernet than usual, but also a very lovely drink. Red berry, dried herb, walnut aromas are balanced, ripe and not oaky. It’s a leaner, finer-boned wine with good intensity and length, but also great elegance. Terrific food wine. 5 Stars "
