Campbell Mattinson 93 points!" It's great to see some movement in the sparkling shiraz market - things have been static for too long. It's also good to see one of the big red cult producers doing a spurgle - at face value you'd think it would be right up their alley. This wine tastes like a mix of apple and plum sauce, and is nowhere near as sweet and plump as I was expecting - even though it is 16 per cent alcohol. The alcohol doesn't show though. It even comes across as refreshing. Notes of smoke, earth, raisins, hay and prunes. This would be a cracker with Turkey. It's noticeably acidic; a good thing."
