[SOLD-OUT] Matrot Maranges Rouge 2017

A BOURGOGNE PLUMP WITH FLAVOUR FROM THE SOUTHERNMOST COMMUNE OF THE REGION. THIS IS GREAT VALUE FRENCH PINOT NOIR.

"Domaine Matrot is located in the Burgundy village of Meursault, in the heart of the Cote de Beaune. The domaine was founded by Joseph and Marguerite Matrot in the early part of the 20th Century, and has been in the Matrot family since. Today, Domaine Matrot comprises 23 hectares (56 acres) of vineyards in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Auxey-Duresses, Monthelie and Maranges. From 2000, all of Domaine Matrot's vineyards have been cultivated using only organic practices in a gradual process that first started in 1976.

Maranges is the southernmost wine-producing commune of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. Domaine Matrot's Maranges Vieilles Vignes comes from a 2 hectare plot where the vines are on average 30 years old. 100% Destemmed, the wine spends 15 months in barrel, of which 10% is new wood." - Matrot

"A slightly more elegant and fresh nose combines notes of equally bright red cherry, currant and pungent earth nuances. There is both good energy and detail to the slightly denser flavours that culminate in a rustic bitter cherry pit-inflected finish." - Allen Meadows
