"There comes a time every winter when I really feel like a red like this. It's all about smooth oak and smooth fruit. It tends towards the big side of red wine and yet it remains medium-weight. It's packed with plums, violets and blackcurrant and yet the dusty bay leaf character of cabernet makes a clear impression. There's a sweet syrupyness to the finish and a sheen of creamy oak at every turn " but it works. Tannin? Fine, soft and barely noticeable. It will age but you could easily drink this now."
