"Now in its thirty fourth year the International Wine Challenge is accepted as one of the most meticulously judged wine competitions in the world. The 2015 Levantine Hill Estate Syrah won three trophies at the 2018 International Wine Challenge: Best Australian Red Wine Trophy 2018, Australian Shiraz Trophy 2018, Victorian Shiraz Trophy 2018.

 

This wine is an assemblage of ten individual small batches sourced from our Estate’s sole block of Shiraz. It is a cool-climate classically complex Syrah delivering an intensely heady and beguiling fragrance of mulberry/boysenberry, Damson plum, rosehip, musk, tarragon, white pepper, cedar and all-spice underpinned by a granitic flintiness.

 

The deceptively weighty all-embracing palate carries brooding flavours of sumac and caraway, dark berry and chocolate with gliding fruit, plushness like velour and an exultation of pinpoint fine-grained tannins.

 

We hand harvest, hand sort and hand plunge all our grapes. They are cared for by the most dedicated of human hands. During vintage, our grapes are picked in small parcels, only when the fruit is perfectly ripe."
