[SOLD-OUT] Langmeil Freedom Shiraz 2002

Robert Parker Rating 92!

Jeremy Oliver Rating 94!
The finest offering in this portfolio is the 2002 Shiraz Freedom. Fashioned from yields of 1.5 tons of fruit per acre from a head-pruned Shiraz vineyard planted in 1844 (believed to be the oldest Shiraz producing vineyard in Australia), it spent 24 months in 90% French and 10% American oak. A dense ruby/purple color is followed by a rich, sumptuous perfume of blackberries, asphalt, pepper, earth, and a touch of truffles. Full-bodied, with great intensity, a big, chewy mouthfeel, and a large, nearly oversized finish, this spectacular 2002 possesses 14.5% alcohol. It should drink well for 15+ years.
Robert Parker
Pleasingly harmonious, vibrant and restrained Barossa shiraz with a bright future. Presently dominated to some extent by mocha/chocolate oak, its dusty perfume of intense blackberry and raspberry aromas reveals undertones of mint and menthol. Supple and seamless, its smooth and creamy palate offers a luscious spread of vibrant plum and small berry fruits framed by fine tannins and what is at present an assertive measure of sweet vanilla oak. Should settle down nicely.
