"Krug 2003 vintage sells out in hours, say merchants"
Decanter.com, 31 January 2014
Time's second revelation of Krug Vintage. A very limited number of bottles of each Krug Vintage are kept in ideal conditions at the House of Krug cellars. Tasted and appraised, they are waiting to blossom into a second life, a life that exalts time and reveals a new facet of this Champagne. Krug Vintage thus becomes Krug Collection. Time then takes on a new, hitherto unknown meaning.

Rich, lightly smoky nose with acidity that immediately seems lower than usual. They lost a lot of Chardonnay to the 11 April frost. For the first time since 1802 they picked in August. Pinot Noir was much better quality than the Chardonnay and some Meunier lifted the notably broad, rich blend. It seems much more forward than usual Krug vintages - even more forward than the Grande Cuvee based on 2003."

Wine Front 95 points!“Big rich thing, as per usual for the vintage, yet this has volume and power delivered with finesse. Gentle tickle of bubbles weaving through flavours of stone fruit, toast and bread, almond and fennel, with an almost gingery fizz adding interest. It’s a juicy wine-like drink, but delivers the full Champagne experience too. Dry and long to close, almost tannic it feels. Liked this a lot. A great success.”
