"Re-released to market after a maturation of 17 years, here is a grand, mature Shiraz of impeccable pedigree. The Block 6 vineyard was at the time of picking already 115 years old. This iconic site is just 1.5 hectares, with vines planted over the underlying "South Maslin Sands" the key to the wine's complexity.
Bottled under screwcap, the wine is now at the pinnacle of maturity. Bringing forth evolved and mellow fruit, with the savoury characters of age taking equal weight on the contemplative palate. The acidity remains poised and the tannins have melted to a cashmere weave. Flavours are of blackberry and plum compote with licorice, choc, hints of dusty floor and tobacco. The depth of the palate harks back to just how concentrated and powerful these wines are, and how they just beg for this kind of bottle maturation.
The wine drinks perfectly right now, but won't degrade any time soon. What a treat. A reminder of just how great Australian Shiraz is when aged well." - Wine House
