Campbell Mattinson 94 points!"It's clearly made in the Big Red style, but this 2007 Old Vine Shiraz from Kaesler is excellent at what it does.
This was made from 45 year old vines. It spent 18 months in all French oak.
It's a chubby, bulky, muscular wine but it has so much flavour, and velvety tannin, that it's very easy to fall under its spell. It tastes of brandy and chocolate, blackcurrant and coffee grounds, all of which flavours push powerfully through the finish. Excellent structure. Excellent weight. Inky fruit and fresh new oak have melted into one another. A marvellous monster."
