Jim Barry First Eleven Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

JAMES HALLIDAY 95 POINTS!

"Deep crimson ruby colour. Aromas of blackcurrant and cassis, cedar and cigar box, rosemary and sage. An abundance of red and purple fruits on the palate, blueberries, mulberry, cinnamon and clove. Fine grained, gravelly tannins, balanced with natural acidity, a lingering liquorice, cherry filled finish. A profound experience alongside succulent lamb recipes or Wagyu beef.

Coonwarrra is the source of Cabernet wines which are now generally recognised as being amongst the greatest in the world. The hidden geological treasure of porous limestone under the rich terra rossa soil creates the ideal cellar by storing water for later use. By virtue of these gifts from the earth, winemakers can place a distinctive signature on their Cabernet wine. The efforts of the Barry family have paid dividends, their Coonawarra property yields a wine of rare virtue. Small batch winemaking techniques are employed to create an icon Cabernet Sauvignon, full bodied and concentrated with profound structure. Extended maturation in a high selection of new French and American oak barriques." - Jim Barry
