"Jean-Paul Thevenet is one of the original - and now legendary - 'Gang of Four', alongside other Beaujolais luminaries: Guy Breton, Jean Foillard and Marcel Lapierre.

A winemaker with a deep respect for tradition, Thevenet farms his old vines with an organic approach, expressing the nuance of his little patch of dirt with as little intervention as possible. Perhaps the most 'old school' of the four, Jean-Paul's wines are pure, expressive and have a rare life to them.

The early summary is that 2020 Beaujolais’ are rich, primary and highly drinkable young. It was another warm year in the region, mostly trouble free and producing excellent wines across the board. For Jean-Paul and his son Charly, these are ideal conditions for their old-vine, 5ha block in Morgon. The Vieilles Vignes cuvee is as a powerful and structured as ever, with the Tradition offering a slightly more approachable, youthful expression." - Thevenet
