Wine Front 95 points!
Jancis Robinson 17.5 points!
Wine Front 95 points!Hand-picked from the Warner Vineyard in the Beechworth region of north-east Victoria. "Fermented with a high proportion of whole bunches, aged in older French oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered".
It's such a complete wine. So polished and sure-footed. No lack of fruit power " blueberries, blackberries, twiggy plums " with a sheen of smoky, cedary oak and the heads of herbal notes sitting clear and pretty, like muscles beneath a tight shirt. The cold nights, the warm-to-hot days; the wine is reflective of both. Integrated acidity and cooling herbs meet small dark ripe berries. It's complex already but it's complexity will build with time. Tannin, firm, solid, fine, decisive. It wears its stalks like stripes on its sleeve; they command respect and you have to be up for them. But it's a superb addition to the Beechworth syrah/shiraz body of work.

Jancis Robinson 17.5 points!Warner vineyard like the Roussanne. He makes a bit of wine for the owner now so he's probably going to be allowed to put Warner on the label! 100% whole bunch. He generally picks about two weeks earlier than Giaconda. All older 500 litre barrels.
Mid crimson. Heady and scented. Very savoury and energetic. Real toast and energy.
