"Jamsheed isn't just taking roussanne grapes from the renowned Warner Vineyard at Beechworth; it's also taking shiraz/syrah. Wild yeast, 40 day maceration, 80 percent whole bunches, no new oak " but all one and two year old oak (French, puncheons). Gravity racked. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

It's a herbal, smoky, ashen, stemmy wine and if thick sweet-fruited shiraz is your style, then look away now. This is cool climate, cool vintage red wine, alive and well. Cracked pepper, peppercorns, blueberry and black cherry. Lovely glycerol mouthfeel. Flashes of meat and blackcurrant; violets even. A fragrant, vivid, stemmy wine and one I particularly enjoyed " being right up my alley and all. Not at all 'big' and not at all sweet or oaky."

Dark purple. Black pepper, cherry pit and cassis on the highly perfumed nose. Sappy, penetrating and intensely spicy black and blue fruit flavors show a refreshing bitterness and pick up a floral nuance with air. Sweet and focused on the finish, featuring supple tannins and notes of olive tapenade and candied violet. Acts like a northern Rhone wine with the volume cranked up.
