"A small part of our vineyard known as GLA (God's Little Acre) is close planted " 2.3 metre rows by vines at one metre spacing " and here in 2005 just prior to picking this planting gave Merlot grapes with flavor so different from our other premium Merlot plantings.
So different that I determined it would change our Grand Merlot style far too much if added in. This meant that it had to be fermented on their own, and just as well, for the resulting wine was magnificent.
Completely different from Grand Merlot as a much more powerful wine with its own deluxe style and character. There is no other Merlot in the world quite like this one, nor any as rare.
The sheer depth of flavours and character is breathtaking, while the richness and complexity is delightful. Such reward is seldom seen. The fruitiness is opulent and the tannins velvety; the overall balance of the wine amazing."
