Made by Ichiro Akuto, multi-award winning "rockstar" of the Japanese whisky industry,  at Chichibu Distillery
"Ichiro Akuto's accessible Whisky is a "World Blend" of Malt and Grain Whiskies. Ichiro Akuto keeps the exact components undeclared, but indicates it as a blend of whiskies with his Japanese 'Ichiro’s Malt' as the base combined with whiskies from Scotland, Ireland, Canada, and the United States. These are all 4-8-years-old, aged in their country of origin, before Akuto makes his masterful blend and matures the final product a further 1-3 years at Chichibu. The Whisky is vatted in 2 x 5,000-litre wooden barrels built by renowned French cooper Taransaud. It hits the bottle non-chill filtered, without colour added. These are limited products.
On the nose are sweet notes of butterscotch, stone fruit, toasted cereals and malt, banana, as well as a hint of pale straw. The palate is quintessentially light and elegant, delivering gently sweet flavours of toffee, roasted chestnuts, lemon zest, gingerbread, banana and vanilla notes of barley malt.
It is of note that Ichiro’s Malt & Grain **Limited Edition** of this, his World Blended Whisky, was awarded “World’s Best Whisky” in the “World Best Blended Whisky Limited Release” category at the 2018 World Whisky Awards." - Wine House
