Wine Front 97 Points!
'...If well cellared, I&rsquo d reckon this will go on drinking well for 50 years.' - Campbell Mattinson, May 2016

Wine Front 97 points!
“I’m a Cabernet enthusiast of the highest order and this is one of the best wines I’ve tasted this year. The winemaker for this vintage was Michael Kerrigan, and there will be at least a few bottles going straight to the pool room.

Aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, wet earth, aniseed and fine cigar box oak – beautifully perfumed. On the palate full bodied with blackcurrant, cherry, earth and spicy cigar box oak. Perfect weight and balance with the oak already folding into the fruit. Firm fine tannin runs the length of a seamless palate. Very long sweet fruit and tobacco tinged finish. Essential Australian Cabernet.
Gary Walsh, Wine Front, 2007

Back when this was released, Walsh gave it 97 and I gave it 95. I had a 30th Anniversary (of Howard Park Cabernet Merlot; the first release was 1986) release of this 2004 last night. Under screwcap. As a 12 year old it’s developing slowly but extremely well. If well cellared, I’d reckon this will go on drinking well for 50 years. If I were scoring it, rather than just drinking it, I would give it 96+. And I’d start the drinking window from 2018, and extend it to 2040+
