Campbell Mattinson 94 points!"Cherry-plummed and bright. Fresh. Pure. Still relatively unevolved. Has a deal of menthol/minty character on the nose that hides a deal of the wine's individuality. The palate, although also having those characters, bursts with lavender and blueberry, and is cut by fine, lingering tannin. Wine rarely comes as exquisitely structured as this. Will be beautiful when mature."

Jancis Robinson 18/20!"Looks more evolved than the 1995. Much more aromatic than most with the same minty note as the Hill of Grace from this vintage. Big, exuberant, glossy and easy to like. Liquorice. Powerful. Intense, confident expression of the vintage. Still some tannin there, though not as much as on the Hill of Grace."
