""Young vines" (just under 30 years of age) propagated from the Hill of Grace Vineyard go into this wine, grown in the Post Office Block of the original HoG vineyard. The 2015 Hill of Roses Shiraz was aged in 55% new French hogsheads, and the oak shows a bit on the nose, adding mocha and charred-meat notes to the vibrant blueberry and raspberry fruit, sage and bay leaf herbals. Full-bodied and richly textured on the palate, with a long, velvety finish, it's more limited in production than the Mount Edelstone Shiraz." - Robert Parker
"From the younger vines of the old vines of Hill Of Grace. The second in line to the throne, or something like that.
Serious shiraz. Texture is beautiful, so silky, almost like the gloss of pinot noir but there’s a burr of savoury-edged, slightly herbal nebbiolo-esque tannin here too – succulent is a good word. Perfume is bright, red cherry, raspberry, brambles, pepper-clove spice and pot pourri with a feature of dried rose petal. So much going on in perfume. Svelte and taut in the palate, exceptionally long too, on the cusp of sweet-sour and herb lined, lovely in all that. The wine opens and evolves with time. Lots of detail in the wine, it feels, you keep searching as you taste. Good wine does that. This is good wine." - Wine Front
