Henschke Hill of Grace 2015

100 POINTS -  ANDREW CALLIARD!
99 POINTS - JAMES HALLIDAY!
97 POINTS - WINE FRONT!

"Medium deep crimson. Evocative, complex and beautiful sage herb garden red cherry mulberry aromas with espresso mocha sesame notes and wild floral notes. Inky textured and pure with fresh red cherry, mulberry, blackberry fruits, fine supple silky sweet tannins, superb mid palate viscosity and underlying roasted chestnut, mocha, vanilla oak notes. Finishes minerally long with persistent sweet fruits and a slight kick of aniseed. Gorgeous wine with a very strong scent of place." - Andrew Calliard MW

"Henschke says the '15 vintage provided stunning and elegant Eden Valley shiraz with extraordinary flavours, purity of fruit and acid balance. And indeed that's a fair description of this medium-bodied Hill of Grace. The colour is still bright, clear crimson-purple, and the beautifully balanced fruit flavours are vibrantly fresh. It would be easy to underestimate the likely longevity of this wine. One of the all-time greats." - James Halliday

"Biodynamic and regenerative farming on old, ancient vines of shiraz. You should know the deal by now.

A concentrated and powerful release of this wine. Choc-berry characters, brambles and dried herbs, bay leaf, gum leaf, sage and something faintly minty, all of this wrapped in a warm blanket of woody, earthy spice. It’s the perfume this year. So evocative, so much of it, so lovely and comforting. Texture sides to richness, generous, flesh of dark berried fruit shot through with all that wonderful herb and spice. Tannins are broad and pull only gently and roll supple through the decadent layers of the wine, but there’s shape and extreme length anyway. An amplified HoG release, and one to satisfy the acolytes, and then some." - Mike Bennie, Wine Front

"Dark crimson in colour with deep garnet hues. A concentrated array of aromas of mulberry, blackberry and dark plum indicate the richness to come while savoury and complex notes of charcuterie, cedar, sage and five spices tease the senses. Plush and velvety on the palate, the wine has intense fruit concentration with plum, redcurrant, blackberry and anise flavours, yet an enchantingly elegant and refined structure. Layers of silky tannins reveal the impressive depth of the wine before giving way to an incredibly long finish." - Henschke
