Germain’s village blend is grown in six separate lieux-dits, including the excellent Clos du Cromin and Les Pellans. The former, on the Volnay hill, brings depth and power, while the latter - right on the Puligny border - brings minerality and freshness. The other sites include Moulin à Judas and Dressoles. In 2013, these sites were picked in mid-October the latest this Domaine has harvested since 1995. It’s a deliciously pulpy, juicy Burgundy with ripe, pink grapefruit, and crisp orchard fruit and crackling, vibrant freshness. It’s racy yet at the same time layered and seductive. The finish is spring loaded with more sweet citrus and a touch of smoky reduction adding to the overall freshness and drive.
“This too is ever-so-mildly exotic on the ripe nose that exhibits notes of peach, apricot, floral and hazelnut scents that are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is good verve to the naturally sweet medium-bodied flavors that finish with notably better depth on the clean, dry and lingering finish. This should drink well young if desired”
