“You’re never going to go too far wrong with Grosset Piccadilly Chardonnay. It’s always good.

I have to say that I’m particularly enamoured of this 2016 release. It’s so very chardonnay and it’s so very long. It’s milky, citrussy, flushed with white peach and only gently tipped by cedary, wood-spicy oak. Varietal character, and length, are its defining characteristics. It will add flesh and yet more charm as it matures.”

This makes a powerful statement about how good chardonnay from the ultra-cool Piccadilly Valley can be. The Grosset Piccadilly, which has always drunk beautifully with age, is often shy and reserved on release. Not so here: with the riotously perfumed and intense, though delicate, primary flavours of nectarine and peach against a backdrop of hazelnut complexity.

 

This is refined yet exuberant with lively flavours and bright natural acidity on a fresh, crisp, pristine finish of impressive length. Delicious!
