"Spicy fruit and a solid serve of cherry-plum flavour have it pushing strongly into positive territory. Indeed I came away from this wine pretty impressed. It’s all cloves, resin, cedarwood and red berries and while it has a gently medicinal edge it works in context, as indeed does the wine overall. It feels and tastes like a quality product. " - Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front
"Following the style of the three previous harvests of the wine and celebrating the cool edge of the Clare Valley’s climate, the Grosset Nereus 2017 rejoices in its restraint, medium-body and healthy rusticity. There is a hint of underlying earthiness to the wine rather than the lusty oakiness which many Australians have come to expect of the variety. In 2017, the Grosset Nereus has primal aromatics of dark plum, black cherry and mulberry which flow through onto the palate. This features a hint of pepper and well-integrated briary oak that is evident yet never dominant. Its satisfying fleshy texture is balanced by tongue-coating gentle tannins which linger. The key to this wine is its medium-body, its restraint, and frankly it’s delicious taste which lingers in the memory. Only 3,200 bottles produced." - Grosset
