"The 2010 Gaia is a blend of cabernet sauvignon (85%) and cabernet franc (15%). This is wonderfully fragrant, brooding and briary with spice, wild herb overtones and a hint of schisty minerality. The palate is reserved and restrained with some primal mulberry and blackcurrant flavours made complex by savoury minerality. It is dense and opulent, less fruity than most Australian cabernet blends, powerful and chewy, tightly structured and finishes with fine, grainy tannins and shaley minerally notes. Expect it to become more approachable over the next five years and drinking beautifully from ten years of age."

"From an atmospheric vineyard on an isolated slope among the hills to the east of the Clare Valley, 2010 Gaia blends 85 per cent cabernet sauvignon with 15 per cent cabernet franc into a silky, seamless wine that marries tangy blackcurrant and mulberry fruit, undergrowthy notes and subtle oak. It's a superfine, middleweight red of sheer class, supported perfectly by savoury tannins. Drink over 10 years."
The Age Epicure, 09/04/2013
"A quiet nose with nicely developing dark berries, plum and a hint of oak. Smooth, fruit-sweet palate. Sandy tannins and bright acidity. An elegant, tidy structure."

"Cue the drum-roll. Keep it going, find a few more drums and a few more please. Call those flash mob musicians on YouTube and ask them to bring drums because in 2010 Jeff Grosset has created a perfect 20/20 Gaia. I have been stalking this wine for years. I bought loads at auction fifteen or so years ago and have been slowly working my way through the vintages. I always open them at home for wine bore pals, blind, and then without fail they name it as the wine of the night. Gaia, when the weather is kind, is one of the most moving and sensuous wines in the land. In 2010 it has everything I could ever want in a wine (apart from volume " only 900 cases were made).
This blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc is utterly amazing with phenomenal depth and soaring cassis notes. The oak is sublime. I would eat of the barrels if I could. It reminds me of the fruit texture and complexity of a great VCC and I would urge you to buy it now. Grosset is another one of the estates in my '100 Most Iconic Wine Estates' book and most people think it is because of his Rieslings. He is undoubtedly a master of the Riesling variety and yet Gaia was the wine that secured his slot position in this book. Gaia is a goddess."

85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc. Strikingly leafy nose. Beetroot, rhubarb, blackcurrant. Smoky, bacon fat style character on the palate. Supple, pliable tannins. Sculpted and polished, with clear Aussie ripeness to the fruit, but a savoury sensibility to the finish.
