[SOLD-OUT] Greenock Creek Block 3 Shiraz 2020

WINE PILOT 94 POINTS!

"Deep opaque ruby in colour and a big step up from the Block 4 Shiraz with greater weight, complexity and fruit focus. Ripe blackberry, mulberry, chocolate truffle and vanilla bean oak provide a strong start with a hedonistic richness and appeal. The palate is then dense with mouthfilling dark fruits, in the tarry liquorice spectrum; a rich mid palate in support before continuing on to a long, broad finish with a nice little touch of balanced fresh acidity to finish. A firmish edge to tannins shows this wine has plenty in the tank to enjoy over the medium term." - Angus Hughson, Wine Pilot

"From the Westlake Vineyards at Moppa on the northern tip of the Barossa Valley's western edge. The undulating landscape rich with ancient stone and red/ brown loams mirrors that of our other vineyard estates at Marananga and Seppeltsfield. Producing low yields of intensely flavoured small-berried grapes, these three estates form the foundation of our winemaking masterplan. The Block 3 vineyard is positioned on the slope of the hill that faces almost due north. The east-west orientation of these vine rows protects the fruit from the hot sun, and channels afternoon breezes that cool the canopy. The fruit ripens more slowly, creating complex flavours and retaining natural acidity.  This wine is made from fruit harvested from the highest sections of the block. Where the vines are more weathered and lower yielding. The soils are lighter in clay content with high levels of ironstone. The fruit flavours are intense, showing dark blood plums and cherries with nuances of liquorice and anise spice over a fine structure of mineral edged tannins." - Greenock Creek
