[SOLD-OUT] Grace Gris de Koshu 2014

Decanter Asia Wine Awards 2015 Gold Medal 2014

"Grace Wine, one of the pillars of the Koshu of Japan&rdquo - Jancis Robinson

"This is a regional wine of Yamanashi prefecture, sourced from multiple vineyards. The wine holds about four grams of residual sugar, which sets it apart from most of the Grace range produced from koshu grapes.

Ripe pear, hay scents, straw. Has a savouriness in amongst the bright fruitiness. Crisp, easy drinking wine, gently fruity, clean finish and overall has a good juicy vibe. Easy to like, vibrant, simple wine, finishes with light chalkiness and general good feel-feel goodness."

"Koshu, Japan’s indigenous vitis vinifera white grape variety, has been growing in Japan for over 1,000 years. Clear and in perfect condition, with pale but bright lemon yellow colour and hints of green. Medium viscosity. On the nose, ample aromas redolent of green apple and fresh notes of lime, followed by crispy scents of acacia flower and lemongrass, accented with white pepper and clove spiciness. The overall tone is refreshing, as is a wine in its youth, full of fruitiness. On the palate, the attack is mellow. The wine is dry with a subtle impression of tender sweetness from the fruit. Lively acidity shows very well the cool weather of the year. The palate then opens into tones similar to the nose, and finished off with the characteristic astringency of Koshu, and a hint of bitterness suggesting depth. A balanced, fresh and fruity wine which is a pleasure to drink and enjoy."
