[SOLD-OUT] Garagiste Macon Villages Chardonnay 2014

Do not adjust your sets people. This delicious Mâcon-Villages is the consequence of Barney's collaboration with Jane Eyre, the talented Australian-in-Burgundy vigneronne making wine at Domaine Newman and under her own label in the Côte-d'Or. As many will know, Jane Eyre makes a Mornington Pinot Noir, using Garagiste fruit and a little production assistance from Mr. Flanders. Here she returns the favour by letting the Garagiste crew have some fun with Mâcon fruit. The first release is drawn from a 30-50 year old biodynamic vineyard in Lugny, in the northern Mâconnais. With regular Facetime sessions and airfreighted samples, Barney co-manages the vinification with Eyre in Burgundy. The winemaking is not at all dissimilar to Garagiste's homeland protocol; whole bunch pressing directly into 350-litre seasoned barrels, native yeast ferment and native MLF, élevage for 15 months on lees and minimal sulphur at bottling. Barney's train of thought tasting notes sums up the deliciousness on offer well: "Wet rocks, stonefruit, bees wax, almond meal. Great detail, long and focused, stonefruit, waxy, citrus on the finish, great balance."
