"So often the most charming wine in the Vajra portfolio. It’s red fruited, floral, spicy. mint and liquorice-laced. Cherry and raspberry, supple powdery tannin grip, gently ferrous, quite spicy and clove perfumed, not quite sweet, but quite juicy all the same. Has some sandstone grip on the finish, but there’s perfume and charm laid on thick. Lovely wine." - Wine Front
"White pepper, dried roses, berries and mineral on the nose. Really elegant and chalky on the palate with medium to full body and a linear finish. Pure and driven." - James Suckling
"Truly floral aroma. Very fruity, expressive and flattering. Lots of energy. Relatively light." - Jancis Robinson
"The Vaira family's parcel in Coste di Rose in Barolo are gorgeously located on the top of the MGA, at 310m above sea level. It's a unique vineyard with soil consisting of pure sandstone, very rare. The soil is dominated by a pure Arenaria di Diano, a Tortonian sandstone that delivers distinctive floral aromatics and a salty minerality. This results in tannins that are more in the front of the mouth. This cru is one of Barolo’s best-kept secrets, being located right in between Cannubi and Bussia, yet away from the beaten paths.
Coste di Rose is possibly the most approachable cru of Barolo at this stage, with roses and a floral dominated nose, combined with cherry and hints of liquorice and mint. A very elegant and pleasurable structure that flows gracefully on the palate with a lingering and sapid finish." - GD Vajra
