Winemaker:
Natasha Mooney
Variety:
Cabernet Sauvignon.
Region:
Barossa Valley, South Australia.
Colour:
Dark purple - almost black.
Bouquet:
The aroma is rich with cassis, dark berry fruit and blackcurrant fruit with subtle eucalyptus and balanced oak complexity.
Palate:
This seductive wine is full-bodied with an abundance of complex falvours including plums and roast fig flavours combining with wild fennel and earthy characteristics. The wine is extremely well balanced and mouth filling with a fruit and tannin structure that will ensure longevity in the bottle.
Maturation:
This cabernet was matured for eighteen months in a combination of new and one year old French barriques.
Cellaring:
Drinking beautifully now, but will continue to develop and mature in the bottle with careful cellaring over the next 6 to 8 years.
Fruit for the 2003 King Louis Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from three hand selected Barossa Cabernet vineyards. It was a hot and dry vintage that produced a wine which "screams" Cabernet. It is a wine made to complement food, in particular savoury, meaty dishes. Enjoy!
