"Identical vinification to Craneford, except for no whole bunches and 100% new puncheons. This is the most tannic of all the wines in either series, the religious rejection of fining preventing any change/cure." - James Halliday
"Deep bricky red with brick rim. Strong minty aroma and scented, senescent sweet black fruit. Perfumed, somewhere between mint and dried flowers. Rich and powerful in the mouth, concentrated with contrasting fruit sweetness and acidity. Black-fruited and spicy/sweet on the palate – presumably there's more influence of oak spice here with the new oak. Less obviously cool climate than the Wilton single-vineyard Syrah but it does have a certain meatiness alongside the mature aromas and flavours of undergrowth. For me, this is a bit too concentrated to be a notable expression of cool-climate Syrah but it has masses of character and flavour and a tarry aftertaste. I enjoyed the aroma more than the flavour. Tannins are still quite firm and chewy but integrated with the fruit. Fascinating trilogy of single-vineyard wines." - Jancis Robinson
