"A very different beast to the 2008 Cornish Point, but likable for other reasons. The 2009 initially looks meatier, redolent of game, red currants, spice and ripe plums " a bacchanalian feast of sorts. Satin-like texture holds the bold fruit flavours, again red berries and black plums, but with lavender and orange rind too. Firmly bound by taught fruit tannins, and bright yet integrated acidity, the wine flows with its beautiful fruit character revealing, bashfully, an underlying richness and layering of fruit, spice, faint cedar and mineral suggestion. I very much like this wine's individual distinction and composure."

"The 2009 Cornish Point Pinot Noir is looking particularly good this year. Deep ruby-purple colored, it displays aromas of black cherries, warm cranberries, moss, beets, cinnamon, anise and a whiff of Mediterranean herbs. Full bodied, crisp and spicy, there's a medium-high level of fine tannins texturing the mouth and the finish is long, lending some minerality/iron ore notes. It needs another year or 2 to open-out, then it should drink nicely to 2017."

"Full, deep medium red. More brooding and less floral on the nose than the Bannockburn example, offering aromas of dark raspberry, chocolate and earth. Round, silky, ripe and concentrated; at once more powerful and more monolithic than the Bannockburn, with a deeper pitch to its raspberry and earth flavors. This large-scaled pinot finishes chewy and long, with serious but ripe tannins."

"As we so often see with Cornish Point, the nose starts with spice and florals: the classic violets, dark rose petals, hints of cinnamon. The palate is voluptuous dark fruit, with a gorgeous open texture, welcoming rather than brooding. The spices dance through the palate with the chunky structure only emerging in the finish of the wine, showing its considerable ageing potential. A classic Cornish Point."
