"No NZ estate has ascended into the Pinot firmament as swiftly as Craggy Range. Its 2008 single vineyard Pinot release is its most consistent yet, and Calvert is the star of the show. Hauntingly persistent, seamlessly pure, seductively enticing and bathed in a wave of silky tannins."

Bob Campbell 92 Points!"Strong sweet cherry, spice/thyme and plum with subtle yet classy oak. Smooth-textured wine nicely supported by firm, ripe tannins. A class act."

eRobertParker.com 91 points!"The 2009 Calvert Pinot Noir gives a deep ruby-purple color and precociously expressive black raspberry and spice box aromas -- cassia, cloves, mace and allspice " with nuances of milk chocolate and anise. Full bodied with medium-high acid and a medium-firm level of velvety tannins, it finishes long. This is gorgeous to drink now yet has the capacity to develop and cellar to 2016.
Winemaker Blair Walter continues to work his magic with the recent releases from Central Otago's most famous Estate. There's not a wine less than excellent in the bunch, but these days it would be more of a story if there was."

Stephen Tanzer 90 points!"Good deep, bright red. Pungent aromas of raspberry, strawberry, sandalwood and peppery spices. Then dry and light on its feet, with youthfully restrained red fruit and spice flavors. There are some very ripe notes here as well as a peppery quality. Finishes with dusty tannins and excellent energy. I'd hold off on drinking this for at least a year. This says 14.5% alcohol on the label but I never would have guessed it."
